LCD white, with vertical line, Why?

Long story short, I took apart my lappy to paint it, and upon putting it back together, the LCD screen was blank. Connected it to a CRT, everything works fine, till I attempt to enable the LCD. Then it starts of dark, with a small lighter patch, that slowly spreads across the screen. Any suggestions?

Edit: it's a TravelMate 8100

Suggestion- know what you're doing before you take apart your laptop

Well if you have not ruined your LCD, I would consider checking the mni-connector that connets the LCD to the Controller on your motherboard. ..

No offense but it is NEVER wise to take apart something you don't know much about...

Had this weirdo dark screen with washed out color spreading slowly from the upper right corner after installing some version of ATI drivers. Don't remember which one. Try booting in safe mode to Windows. That is, of course, if it happens when Windows launches and if you see BIOS bootup screen fine.

Edit: Fixed, and fixed. Stabbed some plugs with a multimeter, and whammo.
