5720 Upgradeability? From Dothan to Core Duo

I am curious about the upgradeability of my Sager 5720-V notebook. When I bought it, Core Duo(Merom?), was not yet available and I had need of a powerful notebook very quickly.

Currently, it has a Dothan core Pentium M 770(2.13Ghz). Would it be possible to install one of the Core Duo chips, seen below?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819111177

Assuming I were to equip the notebook with DDR2 667 RAM, would that CPU suffice?

I believe the thermals of the Core Duo chips are slightly lower, owing to ther 65nm process. Also, both the Pentium M and Core Duo are socket 478, so they appear to be physically compatible.

Not worth the cost in my opinion as you will need a new nother board to go with the new core duo cpu.

You will do uch better to save the money towards a new notebook and sell your existing one.

/agree. The cost of the new mobo is ~$1300, last I heard. Sell your 5720 and get a new laptop, that's the best idea.

Dang, I didn't know a new mobo was required. Oh well, it was just a possibility.

The Pentium M 770 and 7800GTX should be solid for good while yet.
