Thumbs up p105-s9312 Benchmarks

Well guys, I have had my P105-S9312 for about a month. I figured that I would post the system benchmarks on here for you guys. 3dMark05, and 3dMark06. Everything on it is stock, and it hasnt been overclocked or anything. I have been extremely happy with this laptop. It is a wonderful piece of equipment. My only real complaint is that the battery life zapps itself anytime you run a 3d application. and occasionally i get momentary lagging while programs are operating. I am assuming that this is based upon the 4200rpm hdd. Its a great machine though. Enjoy, oh and a final word. If you are planning on buying a new laptop. Do yourself a favor, and get this one. You wont regret it.

hey how big are y'alls HDD's showing as? I am getting about 186Gig. I love the way that manufacturers say HDD size, and that is pre-partitioning i suppose. I have a 320GB in my desktop, and it only has about 300GB allowable. Let me know whawt y'all think.

HD manufaturers and operating systems count the number of bytes in a GB differently.

For HDD's 1 GB is 1 billion bytes (which would be 1000^3). THerefore a 200GBdrive contians 200,000,000,000 bytes.

In Windows, 1 GB is actually 1024^3 which translates to 1,073,741,824. Therefore the 200billion bytes divided by this number leaves you with 186.26 GB as they are seen by the operating system.

In other words it's totally normal, it's like one is measuring in inches and the other in cm. The overall size is the same, but the numbers they come up with are different.

That seems really odd that the 3DMark05 score is 6075 for this model, when it seems like the standard P105-S921 got a 6202 (according to the 3DMark05 scores listed over on notebookreview.com). What do you suppose accounts for that? I mean, the P105-S9312 has a faster processor, twice the RAM..... the only negative I see is a 4200rpm HD instead of a 5400rpm HD, but it still doesn't quite make sense to me.

Ya know thats a good question. I only ran the clock on this machine once. It may have been off power at the time to. which would account. I will give it another go, and keep you posted. JEM

upgraded drivers closed programs etc. 6182. Leaves me to believe one of two things. Mine is under performing, or the test machine was overclocked. Ether way, I am happy with my scores.. Would be interesting to find out what others are getting. JEM

Is that with the Antivirus disabled?

Either way, 20 points is not worth worrying about. Might even be the 4200rpm HDD. Looks purdy damn good to me (note: I have the Intel "Extreme Graphics 2")!

Well I should let you all know that I updated to the laptopvideo2go drivers and I am scoring 6321. I am really begining to believe that the above mentioned S291 was overclocked. I have checked the scores of other S291's and they are getting around 5200 - 5600 with no overclocks.

the nvidia drivers on their site are for a select few laptops. go to www.laptopvideo2go.com. You will need to download a modified .inf file and the nvidia drivers. they have all the directions for using their drivers on the site. Gave me quite a large boost in performance

Pharoke,

Could you tell me the exact number or code of the driver you downloaded? I tried reading those guides but they are not very clear. Could you maybe give a detailed explanation on what to do? I am sorry for being such a noob...

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Lionel
