Post Aspire 1712 SMi > Power Indicator Blinks!

Hello,
I have an Acer Aspire 1712 Smi. I swapped the Videocard with exact the same type (Nvidea Geforce 5600 64 MB) this morning because it was busted apparently (stripes in the screen etc.)

Now, there was another problem that I had, of which I thought it had to do with the broken videocard. But its still there!
The LCD screen still remains off, and the power-indicator is blinking orange & green on the top of the screen as well as the powerbutton.

I tried to connect an external monitor but it wont turn on!

The video-card must be ok now, I think... so perhaps its a power problem.
But why wont the LCD go on?
Why is the indicator blinking orange and green? (nothing in the manual about that)

Please, help me to use my notebook again!

Greetings and thanx in advance, Rutger from Holland (Arnhem)

Maybe the card wasn't bad in the first place, and the inverter for the LCD is actually the problem ??

Not sure how to test it,without another inverter.

Hi Baines, thanx for the reply

Initially, the screen was scrammbled, and the config didnt recognize the videocard anaymore. Different drivers etc did not help. So that was that moment I thought the vidcard was the problem. In that last fase, the comp started to shutdown suddenly. In the end the pc wanted to startup, but the LCD wouldent turn on. Then I thought that the vidcard was totally gone, and that was why the LCD remained off.

The blinking powerled (from green to orange), maybe the laptop is trying to say that the LCD doesnt get power or something indeed?

Baines, with the "inverter" you mean the wiring to the LCD?

To test it: I thought, hooking it up to an external monitor. I did that, .. but still no image.

I'm no expert,I was just guessing that it may be an inverter problem--but since the external monitor also doesn't work, that can't be it.
Are you sure the vid card is plugged in correctly--in my line of work(hvac) a blinking led usually means a low voltage short circuit,or reversed polarity-Maybe double check the connections to the vid card,or put the old one back in and see if you at least get an image of some sort on the screen?

Don't really know,just guessing here.....
