That last .inf ROXX... love the stereo mix always wanted that since I got my laptop, now I can use Sony Soundforge to record again .

Only thing I noticed with that last .inf is that when you plug in headphones the pc speakers don't automatically mute like normal, you have to mute it yourself (but I dunno if that is a feature someone asked for or not, remember seeing something about dual output).

That and I don't think some of the settings work (Sigmatel Control Panel, Advanced Tab, stuff like the "Optimize Bass Routing" doesn't seem to change anything).

Great job though guys... we are all forever grateful... we and our registries (I know I screwed mine up a couple times tryin to get these options lol).

Fusel used my latest ini, which i made for the people with the broken audio ports. It's easy to add the stereo mix to the ini that has the automatic internal speaker disabling feature though. Just wait for a bit and i'm sure someone will make it . I'm kinda busy at the moment but if someone hasn't made one by the time I'm free then I'll do it.

About the advanced tab, I think that tab only affects the spdif output. Someone should test that.

Edit: attached. Give it a shot.

Thanks, works great as well .

Only other problem I can see is that the radio button won't stay on Stereo-Mix when I "Select" it as my recording device. It always switches back over to Line-In after I restart and such. Very minor annoyance though, I'm still amazed at what this SigmaTel driver can actually do .

Much Props,
-Mac

Well folks. I found the solution. LG makes a notebook with this audio chip named the LE50. They enabled StereoMix and it works on E1505. Verified. I've attached an 800kb WAV file of the first couple seconds of Security Now on twit.tv.

You will need to 1. switch to Stereo Mix instead of Microphone, 2. Unmute Input Monitor and you're ready to rock and roll! It also adds extra options to the SB Audigy Advanced MB software volume sliders!!!! Now 8 of them arent disabled! Bass boost now works too--if you seem to find that useful on tiny Dell notebook speakers.

The only problem I have found is that it seems to conflict with the little popup window that says "blah is connected use me for blah" and that is pretty much it. At the very least. Look at the LG driver, pull out Stereo Mix code. And get the control panel for Sigmatel expanded to include what the LG driver has, like digital output and the bitrate and power save mode as well. The best of both worlds should now easily be possible since you guys are so smart that you hacked the drivers with much less until now.

I downloaded the file attached and unzipped it. I grabbed the latest drivers from Dell's website and unpacked it.

I then went into the directory where it was unpacked (C:\dell\drivers\R99254)

In the WDM folder, there's not a file even remotely named the same as the attached INI. Do I just install it as is? Or... is there another file I need to overwrite?

Just post your .INF and one of them can easily fix it up too, think they already did it for one guy (but that was b4 they made the stereo-mix breakthrough).

yes, that would be tight, since I tried the exact same thing as GZS the other day. I tried to install the 1705's sigmatel board drivers which are definately not the same as the 9300's. What .inf am I looking for to post? You guys rock.

Well, I purchased the laptop and the audio jack was snapped. I can't use the onboard so I had to buy a pcmcia card.

I'd like to revert back to the onboard if possible, or at least the onboast mic-out as my audio. I don't really need the card anymore.

I just applied the last .ini on page 2 of this thread to a re-install of the Sigmatel drivers on an M1710 and they fixed all my complaints.

Excellent work! Five stars on this thread and plus rep all around to the contributors!

If anybody would like help applying these changes to an M1710, I would be glad to assist.

My sincerest apologizes GZS, I made a typo in that one post. They will need your .ini out of the C:\dell\drivers\R122161\WDM folder (the R122161 might be different for you, just check the folders out till u find the SigmaTel one). For me, they hacked the 92XXM2-3.INI as you can see on the forums, I would GUESS it's the same .ini for you.

If I knew the differences between the .ini's I'd fix it up for you, but sadly I'm not that smart yet lol.

One thing I noticed is I think I lost the Surround Sound 5.1 speaker options. Well at least the SigmaTel doesn't recognize it as 5.1. I go to the Speaker Test on the Control panel to "Setup" for 5.1 and only the left and right speakers pick up.

From what I can tell sound is no different though. I remembered Media Center had an option to setup your 5.1 speakers so I went into it to mess around and I keep getting critical errors if I try to setup my speakers in it .

I dunno if it's from this latest .ini or from the messing in registry which I did a week or so ago trying to do this on my own lol.

So anyone else who used this .ini, do u have the same problems on the control panel/Media Center? Or is this my own doing? lol

NOTE: Don't let this post freak anyone out from not using the .ini, it doesn't affect anything seriously, I'm just curious if I've brought this on myself lol.
