Dear all,
I would like to have 2 operative systems on my notebook (one for business and another for personal use), the issue is, since this notebook is for businness purposes I don´t want to install here the other operative system. So, I was thinking if is possible to have a different operative system on a external disk (USB, ...) and switch whenever I want or at start up (maybe with the help of some program). Thanks and regards, Bruno Santos. |

First, make sure that your BIOS actually supports booting from a USB drive.
Windows in your pocket Install Windows XP on a USB flash drive -- pretty much same as first one Some problems that might occur while doing this BartPE -- possibly one of the best utilities available today for administrators. Allows you to create a windows install that will run off a CD or a USB drive. You can really go to town with this thing. Detailed step-by-step howto on install Windows on a USB drive Another step-by-step article All of these links are courtesy of Google. EDIT: Apparently, an official guide to do what you want: http://www.winusb.de/index_en.html Regards, zakaluka2.

Thanks zakaluka2.
But unfortunaly, and after going throw your links, I find out that everybody has a pretty good theory about it, but in the end it doesn't work! ![]() See this page for example. It says: Q: Can a USB storage device be the primary (and only) means of storage? No. USB-based mass storage devices cannot be the primary hard disk storage solution on a regular system ... http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device...ge/usbfaq.mspx Thanks again and regards, BruSantos. |
