OK; I know there may be a few, but I thought I’d get round to reviewing my Dell XPS M1710.
Right the Basics: 2.16GHz-1GB RAM-100GB Hard Drive-512mb Graphics card-DVD-RW Right now I can tell you about it lol Right got it after 2 days of ordering it, so First Class so far! Excellent packaging, and I got my XPS bag to! REVIEW OK so this is mainly a gaming laptop, but I was stunned to find that it is actually surprisingly portable… I carry it round my house with no worries, though I’m getting a 13” Macbook for college lol. The Graphics are simply stunning, scoring a whopping 18023 on Future Mark 3D Benchmark, though I am told that if I turn certain things and switch stuff up it can gain points but I don’t really care lol. But the game quality!! OMG!!! As you may see from one of my pics, I enjoy the odd recreational game of Halo… lol yes that’s right I use an Xbox controller, I never got over the Xbox really lol. The Speakers are amazing for a Laptop, though as you may see from my pics, I have the laptop hooked up to me DIY surround Sound. I use Photoshop a lot for image editing (duhh!!!) and though I find it fast; I may need more RAM, so a 2GB upgrade may be in order. The Lights are awesome! And it’s amazing how you can change the colour and turn some of them off. I had low expectations for the battery, though I found it surprisingly good! 2:30 Hours, Nice, more than you need for sitting around the house. I try to keep as much care of my laptop as much as possible. So I run SpyBot Search and Destroy often, and use MacAfee A.V… That’s about all I can think of… not much else to say, an all round good laptop, the 17inch display is awesome! Great for watching films! And really bright! OHH one thing I really love about it is the 2 USB 2.0 ports on the left hand side, unbelievably useful for life on a desk lol. A BAD point- OK I tried to keep these to proper bad points and not petty little things… The card slot is apparently one of those new ones, so all the PCMCIA cards I have, the CF card reader, Vodafone card, and network card don’t fit… though the built in wireless is just as powerful. The 5-1 card reader is quite good, though I don’t really use it so… All in all, an excellent laptop, and well worth it, IF you play games, and want a laptop. Need portability and convenience, and battery life… get a Macbook! lol

7900 gs and 7900 gtx are quite clockable i am running mine at 600 by 700 gives a score around 9400 in 05. got about 8400 with no oc.
personally i love my 1710 though its also my first laptop, but its a monster machine kicking most peoples desktop squarely in the bum. If you buy from dell you must always phone them and haggle mine cost £1500 with years warranty an d accidental care a dvb box specs below. its an awsome machine and i will never by a pc again, infact selling my pc and gonna get a cheapo laptop as as a general replacement for it. the battery life is fairly decent and i dont go any ware without my laptop and when i sleep it lies on the pillow next to me :P ok maybe not but its never far away.
