Area51m 766 Bios Download

Hello,

I have an Area51m 766 (2.8g P4, 9600m) that is no longer under warranty. I recently upgraded the BIOS to version 1.21 (latest on Alienware's website) and now my memory is no longer detected. The laptop came with 256Mb of PC-3200 DDR and I upgraded it to 1Gb PC-3200 DDR. The memory was working great up until the BIOS flash and still works well in a Dell laptop. I had to put in the original 256Mb chip for the laptop to even POST. The 256Mb chip works fine and I can get into Windows and play games etc. etc.

My question is this.... I would like to revert back to an older BIOS so I can use my 1Gb of memory but Alienware's FTP only has the 1.21 version and I cannot find an earlier version anywhere else.

If anyone here has an earler version of the 766 BIOS I would be greatly appreciative if it could be emailed to me.

mrstickinit@yahoo.com

Thanks

I downloaded the 1.21 BIOS again and flashed the laptop to see if that would solve the issue but it didn't. I tried the 1Gb memory in an Acer laptop and it works fine as it did in the Dell.

Still looking for an earlier BIOS to revert back to. Please help if anyone can.

Also, I have been asked to flash to the 1.19 BIOS as this is an earlier version for this model laptop but I am VERY hesitant to do that because the Alienware website says the 1.19 BIOS is only to be used with the Quadro FX Go1000 video card and I have the 9600m. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

Update:

The Memory is working great however with the 1.05 BIOS the Gigabit Ethernet controller now does not work =(. In the device manager it says that 'the specified device cannot find the necessary resources available'.

Any ideas? Do I need to flash to the 1.14 or 1.16 BIOS? If so, does anyone have those versions?

Thanks
