Hello,

Any plans on updating F3Ja BIOS? it seems it might be affected by the grainy issue.

Thanks!

The image is better because I could notice the graininess a bit more when I'm watching a movie with the 207 version.

YES! I have the same problem when viewing DVDs under ASUSDVD - bad scan lines. I figured it was probably ASUSDVD, since when I viewed the DVD in WMP it looked a bit better. But if you had it in WinDVD maybe there's something more to it.

Btw, i'm using the beta BIOS for the Z96J

If you find out whats going on let me know!

ippo (sorry)...regarding the meter fading...

That happened to me before the BIOS upgrade. Its kinda annoying, but I just reboot the machine and its better. If there is an easier way, sure like to hear it as well.

Let's see if there are a few more people with the same problem, but at least posting it here would let Ken know something may be amiss.

LatinoHeat, Asus is kicking out a bunch of BIOS upgrade for each of their models with the X1600 card so owners of the Z96J may experience the same problems as W3J owners (just like the graininess issue).

I can confirm this. I bought this Notebook (Asus F3Ja) for a close friend of mine and, as he is quite the gamer, immediately noticed the "grainy display"-issue in games (mainly).
I already did a BIOS-upgrade to version 203, but apparently this seems to be too old (VGA-Bios: A05308.004).
I would be more than glad to hear about a new BIOS-version released for this notebook-series, too.

Sincerely, jakie

That meter stuck thingy happened to me last time. I am not using the beta bios. But it happened to me when i was pressing the powerplay function button, so i pressed ctrl + alt + del and found power play and end tasked it

then it was fine after. Look in the running processes for something similar

I talked to Asus about V1j and F3JA and he tells me they don't carry these two models in the US, but he will request BIOS update for both notebook, the new BIOS update should be release on Asus Asia and Europe website.

For DVD playback, I belive it's the ATI driver. I recall this problem with Z70VA a while back and a guy at NBR fixed it by install the latest ATI driver:

I tested with S96J BIOS version 1100 with Asus DVD 6.0 and I don't have scanline problems.

so then is the V1J not coming to the US at all, or did they just mean it's not here yet?

It's just not here yet, more likely it'll replace V6J but still not confirm by Asus.

Asus Taiwan won't send new BIOS to us since it's non-US model, they'll send it to Asus Europe or other countries that has V1J available, so you'll need to request BIOS from them.
