Area-51 m7700 Video Card Options

Alright I've had this laptop for about a year and a half now, and the ATI Mobility X800 has been out there for a good bit of time, and I'd like to upgrade, but I was wondering if it would really be woth it to shell out a couple hundred dollars for the 7900, which I don't even know if I can do it in my version mainly because on the website it says that it can't be used with the 1440x900 moniter. I'm just wondering if this is for real or if they just say that so they can get more money out of you, because to me that doesn't really make much sense. And second, I'm more of an ATI guy so I am wondering if any of you know if I can use that card in my 7700 since AW only offers it for the 5750. And if it would work out how much of a difference would there be?
