FS/9860s partially functioning
So it looks like it's time for this post again. I thought about doing this a few months ago, but reading into the issue again made me remember how much I loved this laptop but in the end, I need to get a new desktop and don't feel like dealing with sager's tech support over this anymore.
So without further ado: It worked great for 2 years, and then as far as I can tell, something that has to do with the harddrive went on the Main board. It won't boot sata or ide drives, but will run linux off a cd. All sager tech support will tell me is "Send it in with 50$ and we'll tell you whats wrong with it," so i'm looking to be done with is. Its a 9860-S, so it has Pentium 4 H/T- 3.6ghz 1 gb of ram 17" wsxga screen nvidia 6800 256mb When it boots it gets to the windows screen, and then reboots, on the rare occasion that it does boot it throws Driver IRQL not less than equal error on ulsata.sys. This occurs on any drive you try to boot it with. I really have no idea what to ask so lets just say 7-800 OBO I'm also interested in trades for desktop components such as an intel e6600 duo2/mobo/nice case/hardrive gfx etc |

I would venture it's the motherboard as he's said he has tried both sata and ide - one cool idea for someone - put it on a desk and run off a usb disk - could have a killer if not so mobile machine.

I'm going to get a usb floppy drive and flash the bios/try format out the drive and run a fresh install of windows, to see if It might help.
It's just strange because at times it will make it all the way into windows/ not throw the bsod until I have put in my password and it is loading. I would venture that it might actually be a software/bios issue, but won't know for sure until later today. Regardless of if I get it working or not though, it is still for sale. |
