Using an LCD with my pavilion

Hey everyone... I just recently bought a new desktop, but got the monitor seperately. The monitor arrived on tuesday, but the desktop wont be here til the end of the month, so I figured I would use the monitor (nice 20" widescreen, viewsonic vx2025wm) with my laptop (HP Pavilion zv5000) until then.

Anyways, I got the monitor hooked up and am currently using it instead of the lcd on the laptop, but I can only get the resolution to 1280 x 1024 and the monitor's native resolution is 1600 x 1050. It is alright for now and the quality doesnt suffer to horribly (though everything is a bit stretched and text isnt sharp), but I was curious if there is a way for me to produce the native resolution of this monitor with my laptop.

Thanks ahead of time
