Artifacting not heat related, need help!

Hey everyone im having a bit of a problem here ihave a 7900GS it had a bit of artifacting every once in awhile while playing games...mostly Scarface and Battlefield 2142 i would get it on the ground it seemed to be not at all heat related it would show up at the weirdest times no rhyme or reason.

Ok so i flashed my card with the GTX bios at the lowest setting, ARTIFACTING WENT AWAY!!! i was so happy i got extra speed and the artifacting went away! for a bit...... now its back it mostly only shows up when i switch from using A/C to battery which is really weird because i used to have it set to conserve power on battery, i changed that but i still get artifacting. I cant figure out whats causing it! its almost like i have a bum gpu.

I have a custom built m1710 i had a single pipe 7900GS but converted it to dual i was really careful when applying the heatsink to makesure it all made contact really well i did a good job. I am now using the 575c650.rom i'm considering using the volt mod but holding out because i dont want to break anything.... any help would be greatly apreciated.

Oh ATI Tool nevers detects the artifacts if that matters

Sometimes its just a bad card...the only thing I'd do to test it is flash underclocked timings (with the GS bios) just to prove the point...Of course this will hinder gameplay but oh well...It would be enough proof to me that my vid card wasnt cutting it if it was artifacting at stock speeds (especially since its a laptop gpu and also because it generally has alot of headway)
