lenovo ni00 overheating

Hi ,

I live in the tropics average tempoutside temperature is in the nineties (farenheit)
I just bought a lenovo 3000 n100 laptop.
I kind of like the feel and would like to keep it.
I have reformatted the HD and installed winxp PPro instead of winxp home that came with it.
Problem I have noe is overheating. The palm rest area to the left of the touchpad gets very very hot.
and sometimes the ethernet port even stop working.

I took it to the local IBM repair facility and was told they cannot duplicate the problem and i should continue to use it and see what happens next.
The fan works, but i wonder if it could cold come on a little earlier and increase in speed for a longer time.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
