A4K Startup problems

Hi There,

I have owned an asus a4k notebook for about 8 months now and I am having more and more problems starting the notebook up.
What it does is when i push the power button it starts up, gets to the windows xp loading page, then the screen goes black and it completely shuts down. On ocassions it does it up to a dozen times then it will start normally.
What sometimes also happens is that if the AC adapter is plugged in, it sometimes doesnt even make it to the windows loading page.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

sounds like you may have memory problems. if you've got the notebook running, download and run memtest86. if it says there are errors, then that's your confirmation that your RAM went bad. Otherwise, if you have 2 RAM modules, try starting the notebook with only one installed, then if it doesn't work, switch to the other one. If you've got one RAM module, you can try switching it to the spot for the other module to see if the connector is bad.
