625/825 is a good OC I suppose. The safe frequencies are 600/800 however.

matchbox2022 is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
Hey guys. I happen to have a big overclocking question for the 7950 go gtx. I'm planning on opening the whole m1710 up tommorow and replacing the t7600 with a g one, along with AS5ing the crap outta stuff and putting in two new fans.
MY questions are (GC oriented);
What can I do about the Video Card Ram Chips? They definately get steaming. Is it safe to apply AS5 to them? Can I add extra to make up for the thickness of any thermal pads I find? Should I leave the thermal pads on? Use them in conjunction with the AS5? Or forget even taking the video card out all together? (This is to achieve lower temps with the new fans I have and higher clock rates now that my cpu will be able to process more fps to the video card to compose.)
and Second
Would there be anything else I could do to lower the temps of the ram? (such as a fan blowing inside, etc. anything creative if it turns out that taking the card apart isn't that wise after all.).
And finally, where would one buy thermal pads anyways? I can't seem to find them anywhere really accessible.

Thanks for your help mates. I really do.
appreciate it.

Hello, i have a terrible problem with my GPU. I Have a dell E1705, 7900GS 256mb with modded bios but i don't overclock my GPU. When I'm watching a movie or video the GPU temp gets to 92 șC
. I8KFANGUI tells me the GPU Fan RPM is 0, so the fan doesn't work. Now The normal temp of my GPU is 69 degrees, and i'm scare about that.
what can i do? change the fans? change the drivers?

I'd take it apart and clean the heatsink assemblies from dust and then if your fan/fans dont work then i would get a replacement asap.

I hope this is in the right place, since my card is unlocked and all.
I decided to go ahead and completely rip apart my m1710. Problem is, right now I'm at the 7950 go gtx, and I have no freaking clue what kind of bit I need. It looks like a torx bit, but the smallest one I have is just shy of fitting (too large) any ideas what kind it is? I'm kinda stuck without it. Thanks a billion!

What do you want to do? take the heatsink assembly to bits?

Well. I'm having a very strange issue now.
I don't know if this is the right spot again...but I put everything back together, powered on the laptop with a new T7600G cpu in it. And well, there are issues.

Whenever I run anything the slightest bit cpu intensive, the temperature jumps from 45C to 95C in less than one second. That's right.

It's obviously an illusion since it's impossible to get that hot that fast. AND I put AS5 on it.

I think that it's a driver or possibly motherboard issue. If it were the cpu wouldn't it not even boot? Anyways, input appreciated.

Its possible if the cpu is not making proper contact with the heatsink, i guess you have double checked it all.

The Torx bits for all of Dell's GPUs are the same as far as I know. You will need either T8 or T9 Torx to fit in there (T8 preferably I think).

Oh and for your CPU problem, see if it does the same thing on battery power.

Fixed it. I forgot to replug in the fan. Don't know why that would cause the temp to jump like it did, but it's quite a bit more controlled now. Thanks for the Torx tip!

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask this...but what the hell is the white almost-DVI 24 pin and a slot port on the back of my Geforce 7900 GS go? It doesn't have the four pins around the slot, so it isn't genuine DVI. Where do I find the correct cord for this?

So Matt,

I wonder if this card is the card that you ended up killing and then sold to me as a barely used, like new card that arrived DOA. You might think that you got away with stealing my $135 by sending me a dead card, but this is NOT over.

i use 1.24 volt...OC at 600/800 (or 550/800 often)

i think i remember that someone told me that the memory is no problems to oc to highest point (800)...correct ???
