Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). don't bother with osx86 (mac on a windows pc). the chances of it running without some sort of hardware incompatibility are slim.

Also I found out that the ATI X1600 video card was underclocked which didn't make me too happy. So here are some concerns before I put my M1710 for sale.

1. Has the heat issue been resolved with the Core 2 Duo?
2. Does Apple still have the ATI video card underclocked?
3. How does World of Warcraft play in OSX and bootcamp?
4. Are there any new models due out anytime soon?

I mainly use my laptops for internet, email, photoshop, and gaming mainly only WOW.
gratz on your new MBP but WoW is eating your life and should quit like me

As an owner of both; Go for the macbook pro; I play WOW on it; well used to don't have the time anymore; and it ran awesome! The XPS really is excessive; Regret buying it to be honest but it is good for when I can relax with Halo/Call of Duty 2 or something.

Question for djinn------(and the more Apple knowledgable)

I see you returned your Alienware! Congratulations, I just returned mine too for too many reasons to count! The company is a joke, and so is thier product!!

If you want to know more click!

Anyway, I too am Very interested in the Macbook Pro! I was wondering how you like it?

I am a very light gamer, maybe Counter-Strike and Battlefiled 2 (on the XP side of course) but not much more. So I was wondering if you do any Rendering or run any 3D programs? I am looking for this primaraly to run AutoCad (on XP Partition) and want to make sure it can handle the 3D capablities that Architectural Desktop throw at it and other CAD programs. (Note: I will only use the XP side as little as possible for Cad and a very few games.)

Also, I am concerned that Apple will update their MBP's maybe at the April NAB or in the July WWDC. Really all I am worried about is the Graphics card being updated as I can never get enought graphics power for 3D Drawing. But my Dilema is that I hate waiting, I just went through a crap deal from Alienware and could use a Notebook soon!

If anyone can give me some more input I would appreciate it!

Apple will have one based on Santa Rosa soon. If you can wait maybe 3 months. In terms of graphics... thats hard to say. They didn't upgrade to the MUCH faster X1700... so its a wonder if they will upgrade this time around.

Yes, your Alienware had an optical drive fail after use, you refused to allow them to repair it, but they gave you a full refund anyway.

Good god man, how horrible for you.

Poor CAD'er...

Yeah I agree with Sol. Dell has pretty good support, I've heard a lot of good storys about their support.

Well, he's spewing his nonsense everywhere, I'd just really like to encourage everyone to go to his blog, and read his whining about his non-issue.

Then read his posts here bashing Alienware all over the forums.

It's customers like this that make me wish Alienware would have stuck to their purchase agreement and made him pay return shipping and the restocking fee. Can't imagine his bitching would be any worse.

Beware anyone that sells this moron a computer. Even if you do everything he asks, he'll still malign and bash your company.

This kind of idiot trivializes those that truly do have issues.

Dude Hammerhead get a life! Maybe you need a girl cause you geek out too much with your computer. This is not the forum to be discussing this, besides I was talking to another member that returned his AW so get lost.

This post is as meritless and factually challenged as the rest of your whining.

You raised this issue in this forum, so why not tell yourself it's not the proper forum for your garbage.

You were lying to another customer that may or may not have had legitimate issues. You did not. Your "blog" says you had to pay shipping and a restocking fee, yet you posted in the AW section that AW gave you a FULL refund.

By the way, subverting a ban is against the rules.
