Here's a discounted adapter:

http://www.softarcade.net/Dell-Refur...p_0-18584.html

Probably cheaper than Dell's "discount" anyway.

Don't you guys know how to shop on the internet?

The point is that we shouldn't have to buy a part aftermarket to make it so we can use the laptops in the manner intended, i.e. in our laps.

Well I too just placed an order with HP. $43,687 dollars worth of stuff that WOULD have gone to Dell. But instead we are installing all new HP Servers and Desktop in one of my client's businesses. HP Would not make me buy a grounded adapter.

Dell really have slipped....I'm amazed...as I have stated numerous times in this thread, Dell gave me one for free within 2 days of emailing them about the problem....so why can't Dell US/Canada....that's rediculous....
Tell you what, the 9400 is the last Dell I'll be buying...what with this issue, and the VERY poor paint quality...and to think over the last year, 4 people at my work have bought a Dell through my recommendation...

Does anyone know if the Inspiron 5150 adapter (PA-1131-02D) works with the Inspiron 9400? I recently found one in our pile of 'spares'.

Just a quick note to say that Direct2Dell blog have reopened their survey of 9400/e1705 owners who want to "buy" a three prong adapter at "a reduced cost". At this point, no one probably cares anymore, but thought I would pass this along.
