Few Inspiron 1501 Q's

Hi

Was thinking of buying this Dell 1501 and just wanted to know a few things. It comes with the Radeon 1150 graphics chipset which at first glance looks pretty slow. Was wondering if there are any ways to overclock it out there - maybe someone can point me in the direction of some tools or a guide? Im not looking for mind blowing performance, (I have my xbox 360 for that) just want it to be capable to play such games as WoW and maybe a little Far Cry or HL2

Also the bloatware Ive heard about on Dell computers. Ive read you should do a fresh install...does this mean I just pop in the Windows XP CD and choose to reinstall the OS? Im buying the Laptop brand new from ebay so if it doesnt come with the CD's what do I do then?

Hope you can help, Cheers

Look, you could probably overclock it through software, read up a good online guide such as those at overclockers.net. It is a low end chip and you are not gonna see much improvement from that, but that being said you should be able to run WOW fine (albeit on lower settings)... but HL2 and Far Cry are not gonna like it.

You put the CD in, restart, and I would select to install on the partition only after formatting it (just follow instructions). If it doesn't come with the CD's you can get them through Dell, just contact with service code, etc (will charge you US$10 I think for Windows CD).

Stu

So would the 1501 with the Radeon 1150 graphics be able to run say, Sims 2 or Need For Speed Carbon at relatively decent settings? I'm unfamiliar with the chipset, but the price is attractive.

I use winclk to OC my 1100, but not much improvement over stock. Even with faster ram and the OC'd core I didnt get that many more fps.
