What is your favorite video player?

Hello;

Thought I might post this new thread up and maybe get some ideas from all of you. I have previously been using BSPlayer to watch videos in divx and other formats, sometimes VLC Player. I still use VLC player on my desktop computer (running on Windows XP) but I am wondering if there is anything better since I would like to install something on my laptop (running on Vista). WMP on Vista is ... 'ok', but is lacking more functionality. I am wondering what programs you guys use for videos.

Mplayer or VLC.

Course i don't run Windows unless I have to When I did there used to be a decent one called The Core Media Player, not sure if it still exists. But even when my wife ran windows and I didn't we both found VLC to be about the best choice on Windows.

EXACTLY what I came here to say. GOM Player is one of the best I've had. Use it for all my media playback. I highly recommend.

GOMPlayer looks like it just uses FFMPEG, from Mplayer and wraps it in a different interface.

Eh to each their own, I will stick with open source, thanks At any rate anything GOMPlayer can play, it is EXTERMELY likely VLC and Mplayer can play. Mplayer has just as many options likely, though accessed in different ways.

VLC should certainly be able to play 3gp files, what version are you using?

Did a bit more reading up on it, it is specifically the amr codecs that VLC does not support I believe, if it is a 3gp container but not amr codec it should work I believe, but I don't have any to test with myself.

GXine on Unbuntu, Windows Media Player on Windows XP

I wasn't impressed with VLC, but I also don't play a lot of different extensions. I choose video players by sound quality & volume.

VLC is nice because I find it to be more stable(In terms of crashing) than MPlayer, and is a bit more robust. I will admit the playback quality is not always the best though.

But then again for playback quality, in audio I use Aqualung for that exact reason. Video... eh no real need to worry about it to much myself, VLC does fine most of the time, MPlayer does fine as well.
