problems updating FEAR

I was wondering if anyone has the same trouble that I am having. Here's the problem.

I installed FEAR, the director's cut edition on Windows XP. And it is the english version. Next I went to download the patches from Gamespot. Only the first two incremental patches worked for me. When I tried the next patch upgrading to version 1.03, An error message pops up. It says that I don't have the English version of FEAR installed on my Notebook. So I tried downloading the UK patch and still the same error message.

I thought that maybe my game got corrupted, so I reinstalled the game. After that, I tried patching the game again and it still doesn't work.

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

I really need to install the patches so that I can install the FEAR extraction point expansion pack.

Thank you very much.

Yours truly,
Spartan-177

I read were that usually happens with cracked versions of the game.

I did alittle search and found that problem a lot, but no real solution.
