Unable to dual boot vista+xp

Hi,

My Compaq V3000 laptop came with Vista installed. I wanted to install XP as well. I followed the steps given here
http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista

Now I have got Vista in C: and XP in D: drive. Also when I start the system I do get two options of booting in Vista and XP. The problem is that I am unable to boot in XP (it boots properly in Vista). When I see my D: drive in Vista, I can see all the XP system folders (Program Files, WINDOWS etc). I think that XP is installed properly but, somehow the XP boot record seems to be corrupted. Is it correct?

The following is from EasyBCD View settings option.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are a total of 2 entries listed in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader TimeOut: 30 seconds.
Default OS: Microsoft Windows Vista

Entry #1

Name: Microsoft Windows Vista
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Entry #2

Name: Microsoft Windows XP
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: D:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Does it give any clue as to what could be wrong and how to get XP working as well?

Thanks.

Boot off ur Vista DVD and repair the problem w/ start-up, and see if that corrects this problem w/ ur dual boot w/ XP

The solution explained in Microsoft's site.Problem occurs due the different booting system in each Os.Xp must be first installed and the vista second.Besides both are in seperate partitions.Go and search this problem and given solutions in M.S's vista site, it would give you great help.

this is not true since there are many installations out there with vista FIRST (originally installed) and XP as in 2nd partition
