Dell "15 day policy" or "Total Satisfaction" Policy

I just bought a 2407WFP-HC by calling a Dell Direct store and got it for $534($596 shipped) as opposed to the $569 on Dell's site. When talking to the guy I asked about the dead pixel policy. He gave me some line about a warranty that I could use if I had any problems with it.

Later on I asked if it could be returned if I had only 1 dead pixel. He said, "I think so, the warranty should cover any damage or problems." This sounded like BS to me so I started looking for Dell's policy. All I could find where references to an Australian and Canadian Total Satisfaction Policy that lets you return stuff no questions asked within 15 days.

Try and try as I might I haven't been able to find a definitive answer for the USA Dell. You guys got any ideas/suggestions. I'm hoping the monitor is good, but like most of you I don't want to stare at a dead pixel all day. TIA

PS: This is my first LCD, though oddly enough I have a dead pixel in my 32" CRT TV.

Laptops have 21 day return policy, not sure if it's the same for the LCDs though.

Have any of you guys from the US ever had to return an LCD because of dead pixels?

My first M1330 had bad bleeding, and stuck pixel. I didn't tell Dell I wanted the LCD replaced because of above reasons though. The LED was also making some noice when graphic was intense, and I told them I wanted to try out Toshiba instead.

The XPS support was happy to replace it because it was either replacing the LCD, or returning the system.

I did end up w/ replacing the system because of field tech's poor workmanship.

The Total Satisfaction Policy for USA is 21 days. But the warranty on LCD is limited to 5 dead pixels. If u have only 1 dead pixel, then it'll not qualify for replacement, as the defect is not a manufacturing defect, it is a technology defect. However, if u want to return the LCD within 21 days, u need not have a reason (You just didn't like it!). After 21 days, u need to have a reason (dead pixels, no power, etc.).

Hope that helps.

errr not to doubt you but you can't have a dead pixel in a CRT. It's most likely dust or dirt. If it's not on the surface there is a possibility it could be in the shadowmask, or on one of the guns.

As far as the dead pixel policy, while Dell does not offer a policy to cover you on that one pixel, you can always call them up & ask for an exchange...No promises, though. Screens are getting better these days, though. I have several laptops, as well as 3 additional LCD monitors in my house & not one of them have a dead pixel.

Thanks! I just hadn't been able to find it because I was looking for 15 days! D'oh!

Thank you as well.

Yeah, it's not on the surface, believe me, I tried to get it off. I'm sure it's probably one of those things you mentioned, but since I rarely notice it, it's not a huge problem for me (especially considering how low a price I got for it 8P). Sitting close to a monitor though, would be.
