I have my card flashed with my overclocking settings so I really don't mind if it doesn't work through the driver.

That's one way around it. I like having the ability to change clock speeds for different apps with ease.

Anyone getting errors when trying to run the Nvidia Control Panel?

Is this overclocking issue something someone could fix by manually going in and changing one of the .inf files, or is it something deeper than that?

Not sure, but I haven't seen Tony reply to this discussion at all. He may be looking into it.

I really wish, and WANT to do something, but I can't at the moment. My internet is down, and I'm stuck on sub-28.8Kb dial-up, so right now, I can do nothing to help. Sorry guys.

hey, anyone else having the same problem as me? over time, one of my svchost.exe slowly but surely takes up more cpu and ram. eventually i have to restart my computer every 24 hrs. i looked at the process explorer and it's the rpcss calling the svchost, svchost.exe -k rpcss. long, painful story short of trying to find a solution, it turns out to be nvidia display driver service. if i disable that under services.msc, my problem is solved!
anyone else experience this? is it just this driver, this series of drivers, or just my lappy? i have a i9300, 2.0ghz p-m, 1.25 gig ram, and a 7800gtx using this driver, 169.09 m4. Last edited by tbert03; 12-06-2007 at 12:10 PM. |

It's fine to disable that service. It's really not needed. I personally set mine to "Manual" instead of "Disabled" just in case something calls on it and it's needed, but it's perfectly safe to set it to Manual.

When I attempt to access the nvidia control panel it crashes. Any idea why this happens?
EDIT: It happens with _your_ 169.04 drivers as well. This did not occur with the DNA-Force 169.04 drivers although I'm going to double-check it here it a minute. Last edited by shinji257; 12-12-2007 at 01:35 PM. |

I'm in the same boat, I reverted back to 94.xx. I hope this is resolved soon, I am running Quake Wars and have heard that the 164.xx drivers help.

EDIT: I have managed to narrow it down to the NoPages key. In the regular drivers and the NBF set it is setup to a value of 0. In the DNA-Force drivers it is set to 40000000 (hex value). Here is a patch for the issue if you have the crash. Only use it if you have to. It should not affect any of the tweaks. The following "code" should be put in a file named patch.reg Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak] "NoPages"=dword:40000000 Last edited by shinji257; 12-12-2007 at 03:28 PM. |

Just double-checked the patch again (I was doing some other edits including deleting keys prior to discovering that). I clean removed then reinstalled the drivers. It made it work without issue. This fix should work with all future versions as well.

I just installed these drivers and my Dual View is giving me grief when I connect my 2005FPW via DVI. When I set it up, my 2005fpw will display the set resolution (1680x1050), but will only do so in a 1280x1024 box. The monitor also only reports a 1280x1024 signal, but my 1710 says other wise. When I mouse over to that display, I can move the larger display area around the smaller 1280x1024 "box". I've tried for over an hour to get it to work by messing with the control panel's scaling, the monitors scaling, switching res back and forth, different monitor drivers (both dells and microsofts) , pluging and unpluging, but no dice. I just busted out the old VGA cable and it works fine... Any ideas? VGA is FTL lol
