To follow up - I have found out that GPUZ 1.5 shows 2D ROP's, pixel and texture fill rates for some reason. GPUZ 1.1 shows the correct figures in these fields - so apparently that part of this card works properly. The only thing I have found out about this 7950gtx is that it is running very hot idliing around 70 to 75. I will be applying some AS5 to hopefully fix this problem.

A very respected source - I don't think someone was trying to con me. So far this card runs overly hot. Right now it is idling at 76, for instance.

Using Powermizer is a good way to get your idle temps down. I also have my fans running on slow speed all the time, sort of like a desktop. I sleep better at night knowing that I'm not slow-cooking my components. Fans are cheaper than GPU's and CPU's. I idle at 40C.

Ghaz , when are you putting that 7900GTX in you E1705 ??? I kind of want to see your impressions about 7900GTX over a 7900GS .
And why dont you just put your system on standby mode during at night .

I don't care for the wear and tear caused from components constantly heating up/cooling down. But to each man his own of course.

I do too, although I just do it because I know the electricity if I left mine on 24/7 would be a hell of a lot higher

As for shutting down the PC, i live in an apartment so I pay an electric bill 4 ways (including me) and we all pitch in to save energy.

I have my desktop that is my 'slave' which runs quite often. Its an old P4 Atix300 so I put that through abuse if I need to. Plus I would like to keep my Dell for the next say...........4-6 years

is that 8600gt from a dell? I didn't realize they used the (much) slower DDR2 memory in place of GDDR3 for the 8600.

Yes its from a Dell. For GDDR3 they probably want you to get an 88xx
