Sager/DAW RME Cardbus controller problems?
Sager/DAW RME Cardbus controller problems?
I noiticed this on the forum: listing the specs on the 5660. I am particularly concerned about the Cardbus controller not being good enough to handle Professional Audio ( as per RME top of the line DAW Audio interfaces). The 8887 lists a Texas Intstrument Texas Instruments PCI-1520 CardBus Controller . GOOD ....but 5660 might be different if what is posted below is true. I have heard good reports from users about the Sagers in general, but if anyone has problems with the 5660 PCMIA/Cardbus , please reply. << Let me illustrate that on the Sager 5660: laclasse@screamer:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset Host Bridge (rev 11) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82845 845 (Brookdale) Chipset AGP Bridge (rev 11) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801BAM/CAM PCI Bridge (rev 42) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82801CAM ISA Bridge (LPC) (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801CAM IDE U100 (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM SMBus (rev 02) 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio (rev 02) 00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Modem (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 Lf [Radeon Mobility 9000] (rev 01) 02:04.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB21 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) 02:06.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Note that Windows' Device Manager often says 'or compatible', so it isn't always clear what hardware (chip) is used. Also there is a newer version, and a newer version of the newer version (II) of the Ricoh, which might work. Not sure. A new notebook test with more current models should follow soon. ***Our main new enemy seems to be the ENE CB 1410 and 1420, a cheap piece of taiwan junk, implemented in lots of the newer notebooks. Will add this to our hardware alert page.*** Regards Matthias Carstens RME>> |
