Asus Eee power adapter price increase

Here's something interesting...

I had a scare the other day that I might have lost my power adapter for me E, and was looking around for a replacement (later a spare). Then just tonight when I checked to see if they were still in stock, the price went from $15 each to $40. What the christ is that all about? How on earth is that kind of price increase even possible? I can understand the whole supply & demand theory... but come ON!
