I recently purchased an AW m15x, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to purchase smartbay drives. I'm looking to get an extra battery or possibly an extra 320 hard drive but I hit my budget for the month with the computer so it will be a purchase for next month. I couldnt find a spot on the AW website so does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Kevin, welcome to the forum! It's wonderful to know Alienware is soliciting input. Your question was about peripherals and software. Please allow me to make a suggestion on future notebooks: Use better quality speakers when you build them. My m5550's are great notebooks but they are really lacking in the sound department - there's no bass at all and they sound quite cheap and "tinny". Whenever I've shown them off to friends and they hear the sound quality they really raise their eyebrows, and not in a good way. I realize that a lot of people use external speakers with their notebooks but there are a lot us who don't/can't. It has always amazed me that, for being some of the best notebooks on the market, the sound quality of the built-in speakers could and should be a lot better.

I hope to be an m15x owner in the future. It is my understanding that the sound quality of the built-in speakers leaves much to be desired on these as well. Anything you could do in regards to this in future notebooks would be appreciated.

Best of luck to you in your new position!

For those wanting smartbay drives and batteries, call AlienWare CS department. Not Sales, not Tech Support... Customer Service. 866-287-6727. It will ask you for your 10 digit phone number -> that is the area code and phone number tied to your account. Then select option 4.

I've purchased several items for my m5550's from them. Don't forget to tell them you want the 10% discount you're entitled to as an existing customer.
