That's very unfortunate.

CyberLink finally put out a BD 2.0 patch for PowerDVD a couple days ago, so I can finally watch Across the Universe. They haven't put up the update package for MediaDirect as of yet, though.

I tried messing with it for a while to get it to switch into progressive mode, but to no avail. If I forced the resolution to run non-interleaved all I got was a blinking cursor. It seems, unfortunately, the maximum digital resolution for the 8600GT is 1600x1200, and it wont push 1080p.
I'm going to note that this might be just superfluous, it might support 1080p and I don't know it. under further experimentation, the TV we're using simply doesn't support 1080p

Hi Anaconda! I am thinking about getting an XPS 1530. I read in another review somewhere that the hard drive makes a fair bit of noise...have you noticed this?

I haven't noticed any significant hard drive noise, no. I don't hardly hear it really.

Thank you for the great review you shared with us. How is the Dell XPS 1530 compared with Lenovo T61? I am hesitating on which model to buy. I was told Dell laptop's temperature is high, is it true?

Thank you very much.

well it gets warm at some times depending on what you're doing because it is pretty thin, and the palmrest is metal, so you get the heat from the graphics card dispersing into the palmrest. never gets too hot to work with though. at the moment I'm having mine on all the time using it as passthrough wireless to my desktop in my new apartment until I get my cable internet hooked up, so I have it resting on a cooling pad, which helps quite a bit

I don't know how that would compare to the Lenovo, I haven't used or seen that particular model.
