the downclocking in 2D mode does not work. Driver forces my 2500M to max speeds all the time. oh, I have flashed back to factory locked rom (which now enables me to change clocks manualy). Any solutions?

Hi,
So far so good. Fixed my COD4 flashing gun problem. Now to try Gears of War! No wait a minute...Black screen lock up in D.I.R.T. One game fixed, another broken. I feel like going back to my 93.xx drivers....the only reason I upgraded was because of a message when I installed GOW that I need to update to at least 163.44. I was happy with my 93.xx. Will keep plugging away with these to see if problem persists. Thanks again Thanks Indy Last edited by indy2005; 04-09-2008 at 06:51 PM. |

I"m using the driver with a Precision M6300 with a Quadro FX 1600M video card. The notebook is docked and using an external Dell 2005FPW monitor.
I went through the instructions to properly remove the old driver and installed the new, selecting typical settings along the install path. I'm having a problem with the resolution on my external display (the internal display is just fine). For some reason the default resolution after installation (and maximum resolution that can be selected during installation) was 1280 x 1024 despite the native resolution being 1680 x 1050. If I change it to 1680 x 1050 then the desktop is larger then the monitor and moving my mouse beyond the visible borders moves the desktop to display the remaining portion of the desktop. There is also a small (maybe 1/4 inch) unused/black border at the top and bottom. If I leave it at 1280x1024 then the picture seems stretched horizontally and the additional top and bottom border is also apparent. What am I doing wrong? Well I switched back to 160.04 so I can OC. But I really like the 174 driver becasue it has under the' program settings' the drop down menu is really nice how it detects all 3D apps and we can tweak settings there, thats an awesome feature, if the clocks would stick id be like a kid in a candy store

Hey Ghaz... READ THIS!!!
Flash your card back to it's stock BIOS, and you'll be able to overclock with drivers newer than 169.04, including 174.31. ![]()

If you can't overclock, you definitely don't have the stock BIOS. I confirmed it on 2 machines (my own M1710 with a Quadro FX 3500M, and my friend's E1705 with a GeForce Go 7900 GTX). zzpulp confirmed it, as have several others.
Definitely need to give it a try. If you need the stock BIOS file for your 7900 GTX, let me know, and I'll get it to you.

Ok.
If, after proper installation these drivers, I go to Riva Tuner and OC @ 475/450, reboot, go to Riva Tuner again and it shows 350/400 on the sliders, then OC seems not to work, is that right? (startup setting is set to 475/450) If so, how to make it work? (previously I was using 169.04 and had no problems with it)

Read my above post. You need your stock BIOS in order to overclock.

I'm using this driver and have one odd thing that happens. It's pretty specific- If I run the Half-Life 2 Lost Coast video test at non-native resolution (anything lower than 1680x1050), the bottom of the cliffs at the beginning of the test are colored magenta instead of the colors they're supposed to be. Anyone have an idea why this happens? It's a very minor thing, but I was curious.
