Alienware Area-51 m15x or m17x????
Hi Everyone!
My 5 year old Dell Inspiron 8600's screen finally died so I am in the hunt for a new computer. After looking and looking I have narrowed my choices down to Alienware. So here is my delema. I cannot afford their top of the line stuff as my budget is $3500 and even that is really more than I want to spend. I definitely want the HD screen and a blue-ray player since this computer will go with me on deployments to be used for entertainment as well as for school and gaming. I am debating which screen size to go with. If I get the 15" then I can get a 2.5g processor, 200g hard drive and the 800gtx. If I get the 17" then I need to go with a slower processor and smaller hard drive and maybe drop to the 8700gt. I do have a 120g external that I can use. Anyway, would it be better to have the bigger screen and a slower computer or vise versa? Thanks! |

15 inch is the winner there, you get more portability and you also get a faster machine.
no contest there, while the big screen is nice your needs sound much more like the 15 inch is best.

I'd vote for the m15x as well. I had a 17" notebook and it's a beast to tote around. Plus you can always hook it up to an external display for larger viewing while at home or at a Lan Party.

While I agree with you guys, external screen or not, the SLI grfx cards on the 17x really cant be overlooked as being able to provide a very vivid increase in real world gaming performance (higher settings on higher screen res's)
At least untill ASUS releases the XGamerStation, then its integrated grfx on the 15x till the Wheels Fall Off!!!!!
