Looking for new 14 inch Notebook - help

I looking to buy for a good Asus 14 inch notebook. I have done some research and would also like to hear your recommendations.

What are some of the best options available as of today ?

Looking for:

Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
Canada - Ontario
Budget - $1400
No Games - only multimedia and office work. Sometimes I may need video conversion.
Would be nice to have a good battery for driving or flying.
OS - Ubuntu Linux is what I will install first thing.

the battery is what's going to get you. Right now, there doesn't seem to be any 13-14" Asus notebooks that get more than 2.5 hours battery life in testing. Machines like the V2S and U3S are high quality well built machines in your size range, but neither of them gets over 2.5 hours battery life. Unfortunately, if you need 3+ hours of battery life, nothing Asus has on the market right now is going to be good for you.

Hey, every brand has its positives and negatives. I'm just being honest about them.
