Windows Experience Scores

With my 1730 I can get a 5.1 score. The 5.1 is because of my ram which gets a 5.1, I am upgrading and adding another 2gb so this will not be a bottleneck anymore. My next highest score is a 5.2 for my hd. Is there anyway to get a higher score for my hd? I have a 7200rpm, would adding another hd, and putting them in raid somehow make a difference? I would at least like to figure out how i could make the hd faster, after that my next lowest score is not until 5.4, and if i had a score of 5.4 I think I would be happy.

in my experience the experience scores don't mean much... case in point I had a 4.3 for my RAM when I had 1 GB, now I've upgraded to PC6400 DDR2 4GB, it's 4.4.... o_O

Also the speed of your hard drive isn't an issue, only if you don't have much RAM as less access to the pagefile on your harddrive will be made if you have sufficient RAM, it would only make a difference on bootup and, again, I think it wouldn't make that much of a difference. 7200 RPM is fine, 10,000 RPM is expensive and solid state drives are freakin awesome but even more expensive.

Adding RAM will not do anything for your memory score. In fact, there is nothing you can do about that score, other than buying a new machine...

I get 5.3 with a 200GB 7200rpm Hitachi. A RAID setup will certainly improve that part of your score.

I have 5.5 processor, 5.8 Gaming Graphics, and 5.9 Graphics performance score, on my M90, 2.33GHz T7600 processor, M3500 graphics card. My memory score is a dismal 4.7, though. But apart from that, it looks like my old M90 beats the pants off your 1730... Sorry, couldn't resist

Like the other poster said, be aware that these scores do not mean too much. The only upgrade that you would likely notice is the change to a RAID disk setup.

I get the following with the system in my sig:
Processor: 4.9
Memory: 4.5
Graphics: 5.9
Gaming: 5.8
HD: 5.2
My HD is a WD 250 GB 5400rpm.

I believe 5.9 is currently the max score WEI supports.

Pirx adding memory really does nothing? I also worded what I said wrong about 5.2 being my highest score, i meant next lowest. You still seem to beat me, but my scores are:

processor:5.4
ram:5.1
graphics:5.9
gaming graphics:5.6
hard drisk:5.2

I just ordered a 4gb kit, should be here this week. I am going to hold off on a new hd until those fujitsu's come out that are 320gb and 7200rpm. Buying a tv tuner as well, as soon as i figure out which one is the best. Trying to think of other crap to add on to my computer, but it seems like after those 3 upgrades the rest of them I am not going to spend that much money on right now: x9000, blu ray, 8800.

Well, of course it does something, and it may improve your performance in some situations; it just won't change your experience score at all. But like I said, the information content of that score is limited, don't read too much into these numbers.

graphics:5.9 (8800GT)

hard disk:5.9 (dual WD5000AAKS, no raid)

Just goes to show the difference between a desktop and laptop, I guess.

Hey guys - why don't you submit your scores to the NBF benchmark system?

Yes submit them!! Then you can discuss them in the threads after you submit them.

I'm going to be removing the new thread link so people will be forced to submit them instead of just making a generic thread.
