SOLUTION, How to get i8kFanGui to work in Vista X64
Here is how to get it to work and there are 2 ways to solve the issue a temp 1 boot fix, and a permanent fix.
General problem concerning Windows Vista 64bit is, that there are only allowed drivers with correct MS signatures. I8kfanGUI 3.1 doesn´t have this signature mentioned above, therefore it needs special service in order to run. After booting, when the boot screen appears right BEFORE you can see the Windows loading bar, you need to press F8. If you are too late Windows Vista will start normally. If you are succesful a menu will appear. Choose "Deactivate Driver Signature Enforcement" and press "return" button. Windows Vista 64bit starts without driver signature enforcement and you will be able to use and install I8kfanGUI 3.1 for the 1 boot session! In order to permanantly make it work do run cmd.exe as admin, and run the following command. bcdedit /set loadoptions \”DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS” This should make it work. I've seen it work for some and not for others. I don't know why. This seems to be windows version issue. Some versions it works and others, it doesn't. The first method works on all though. The pain, is remembering to press F8 on boot if you want to run fangui. IF THE ABOVE METHOD DOESN"T WORK because of some VISTA UPDATE esp in SP1 look here. There are other solutions on how to permanantly disable driver signature engforcement. http://thebackroomtech.wordpress.com...-vista-64-bit/ Hope this helps.

Superb!
Great find, thanks for sharing KK!!!
I have Vista x64 with SP1 and did the link at the bottom of the thread in your post ReadyDriver Plus v1.1 http://www.citadel.co.nr/readydriverplus I run a dual boot system so use the 2 clicks to get it to my vista install Man this is great, finally regained fan control, and can use other non-signed software like atitool - downloading it now to test Its basically like a script to select disable signed drivers boot THANKS!!!!!!!!! ![]()

I'm also wondering if you can just install it using F8 and then schedule it as a task that loads on startup - with elevated priveledges. That is how I got Everest Ultimate starting properly on boot. Before scheduling the task, I had to manually load it every time Windows started. Going to try it tomorrow when I have time, but maybe someone else also wants to try so I am throwing it out there.
EDIT: Nope. My idea does not work. The fangui driver will not load. Ready driver plus works like a charm though. +1 to each of you. ![]()
