Does installing Windows XP over Windows Vista void warranty?

Hey guys, if I were to wipe Windows Vista and the backup partition as well as the mediadirect partition, would Dell void my warranty? I plan on installing Windows XP instead because Vista is such a resource hog.

No. They can only void warranty if you're messing around with the hardware (changing CPU, overclocking graphics card, etc.). Software changes won't affect warranty status.

i m sure that after over a year being alive and kicking and getting strong, the "resource hog" label is no longer fitting

Even if the support tech tells you that changing operating systems voids your warranty they are FULL OF HUMBUG! Dell doesn't have this problem generally, but some other manufacturers love to dismiss warranty service for the most petty excuse.
