WinXP installed but no HD to format

Hello,

I have a running windows xp home on a fujitsu siemens laptop (M3438G) with some troubles; I wanted to format and reinstall;

After booting from WinXP CD, I get a message that no Hard disk found.

I go into the bios setup, look at the HD in the IDE configuration but see no HD but only the DVD device.

In the device manager, I see twice: Samsung HM060II SCSI disk device

Please advise.

Thank you

It is likely that you would need a sata driver in hand, and loaded, before XP can see the drive

cheers ...

Hard Drive

Try the folowing :-

Check HDD Cable connection on Systemboard.
Use Fujitsu Recovery CDs (home edition) then use XP Pro cd.

Good Luck

Agree. Definately needs SATA Drivers. I had this problem and needed to slipstream SATA drivers from the drivers cd into a custom WinXP Pro distro using nlite. Slipstreaming just SP2 or SP3 did not help because fujitsu used custom SATA drivers not present in the service packs.

My laptop: E8210
