Problem after flashing BIOS on 5680

I'm working with an older Hypersonic Aviator GX6 that as best as I can tell has a Sager NP5680/Clevo D500P. I flashed the BIOS with what Hypersonic claims is the latese bios but as it turns out, it was for the NP5690/D500E. As a result, things got all jacked up and all I could see on the screen was a bunch of gibberish.

After doing numerous Google searches I found a thread here that had a BIOS version for the 5680. 1.00.10s. After flashing, everything appeared normal but when I try to install XP, it only sees about 6GB of the 80GB drive. The odd thing is that in the BIOS setup, the primary master shows 80GB. When I try to format the drive and install XP anyway, Windows cannot format the partition. I've tried a couple different install CDs.

I popped the drive into a desktop using a laptop/3.5" adapter to see if the drive was bad but the installation indicated that the drive is 80GB when it's connected to the desktop.

I can't remember what the original BIOS version was either. So that would make it tough to look for.

For whatever reason, I think there is still a problem with the BIOS that is affecting the Windows installation even though in the main screen, it reflects the proper sized drive. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get your problem fixed? My D500P / 5680 has no problem seeing an entire HM160HC from samsung. That's 160 gigs, two platters, super-quiet and far faster than the original hitachi 7200 rpm drive. Also uses less electricity per hour.

It has the latest bios from Clevo, whatever that is.
