Problem after flashing BIOS on 5680
I'm working with an older Hypersonic Aviator GX6 that as best as I can tell has a Sager NP5680/Clevo D500P. I flashed the BIOS with what Hypersonic claims is the latese bios but as it turns out, it was for the NP5690/D500E. As a result, things got all jacked up and all I could see on the screen was a bunch of gibberish.
After doing numerous Google searches I found a thread here that had a BIOS version for the 5680. 1.00.10s. After flashing, everything appeared normal but when I try to install XP, it only sees about 6GB of the 80GB drive. The odd thing is that in the BIOS setup, the primary master shows 80GB. When I try to format the drive and install XP anyway, Windows cannot format the partition. I've tried a couple different install CDs. I popped the drive into a desktop using a laptop/3.5" adapter to see if the drive was bad but the installation indicated that the drive is 80GB when it's connected to the desktop. I can't remember what the original BIOS version was either. So that would make it tough to look for. For whatever reason, I think there is still a problem with the BIOS that is affecting the Windows installation even though in the main screen, it reflects the proper sized drive. Anyone have any ideas? |

Did you get your problem fixed? My D500P / 5680 has no problem seeing an entire HM160HC from samsung. That's 160 gigs, two platters, super-quiet and far faster than the original hitachi 7200 rpm drive. Also uses less electricity per hour.
It has the latest bios from Clevo, whatever that is. |
