Fastest browser? can't tell ya, it is all personal preferences - no 2 persons have the same machine configuration (software and hardware), same surfing habits etc .... A poll on this subject always ends up becoming a flame-war thread, so I am seriuously discouraging anyone for doing it

cheers ...

There is Opera, FF3, IE7 (Get the IE7pro add on), and a few others as to which is the fastest it all depends on your machine and habits like the dude in Blue said.

Old thread but information is still wrong. By all independent tests currently available Opera is the fastest browser available and I.E. is the best battery life browser available.

Tests on this have been run by multiple independent sources including Anandtech so saying it depends on the system and your personal preference isn't accurate at all for the question that was asked.

It's interesting that you say that. According to Futuremark's Peacekeeper benchmark, both Google Chrome and Apple Safari are faster than Opera.

Currently installed on my system are FF, IE, Chrome, and Safari...hands down Safari wins the speed contest, it has some pretty trick visual features too. I like Chrome's form and function, and it's speed is close to that of Safari. My school requires FF/IE so I switch back and forth.
