Problem booting from CD

Hi all... I'm trying to boot from my optical drive. I have a Sony laptop, PCG-GRZ630. I set the BIOS boot order to go to that drive first and it still boots from the hard drive. I tested the CD itself in a Fujitsu laptop, it boots right up. The disc I'm trying to boot from is Windows, but not originally from a Sony machine. Any ideas of what's preventing me from booting from this disc? Thanks.

Try another CD installation disk, from whatever source/programme. If the issue persists, more likely that the optical drive is defect

cheers ...
