Sigmatel Driver Driving me mad.
Hey hey, Im busy searching through threads trying to find a solution but so far nothing and I been at this for a week so my apologies if this is posted some place.
I have a e1705, when I got it I had Windows Meadia Center but since then Ive had to format and Im using Windows XP Pro SP3 now and since I put this on, I had the original drivers from Dell working with the Service Tag lookup on their website. I had to format again, and this time around, with the same copy of Windows, those drivers, and every other copy of the drivers I can find wont work. It says the hardware doesnt match the drivers this time around. and every time I attempt to install them, it tries to install the modem drivers as well and that errors out because the audio drivers are already running the install and then after that errors out, the audio install menus just dissapear. Then when I reboot, the install for the Sigmatel stuff starts up again and ends up giving me the error for the hardware not matching. Anyone know whats going on with this? Ive setup a ton of computers in the past, Im not new to this stuff, but this makes no sense to me. I have all the other srivers for everything installed other than the modem, but even when I run that on its own before the audio stuff, it says it cant find the modem either. So the sound and modem are both not working, although I dont need the modem for anything. Anyway, any help is much appreciated. thanks. Matt. |

Urr...since no one else responded to this, are you sure both your modem and onboard sound are still working?

The sound was working fun until I formatted. The modem worked like a year ago when I used it, I havnt used it since then but Im sure nothings happened to it since nothings been plugged into it or anything.

Just wanted to check. Are you sure your problem is Audio driver and not Card Reader Driver? That was my problem when i reinstalled system on my E1705.
