3000 C200 Celeron M 430 CPU Upgrade

Hi All

I have the above laptop. Have just upgraded RAM to 4GB but would like to upgrade the CPU as well. However I'm not too sure on exactly which will fit.

It has i945GM chipset.

Any help greatly appreciated! I'm looking for a cheap dual-core processor that will give a good hike over the Celeron M.

Many thanks!

Welcome to NBF.

Your chipset can support C2D processor, you can go here and navigate around the processors support and see.

As I can see, this series model comes also with a T5500, so you can be safe to add/minus a few on this. Good luck.

cheers ...

Thank you very much for the reply.

Can you help me understand with C2D's will work? It's just I'm not clear if there are 'special' versions for the mobile sockets (?) like the T2300E for example.

This, for example, should work?

http://www.intel.com/products/proces.../celeron_M.htm

this shows the structure and specifications of your current CPU. Verfiy against you are about to get. The one on eBay seems to be a special edition, and not a reatil boxed one, so I am not so sure about recommending it.

cheers ...
