Processes and Services

Just a thread for personal experiences and observations regarding Windows Processes and Services, in pertaining as what to keep, as what to disable/deactivate.

We all know about many good links out there as how to "tweak", I just like to share and soliciting inputs as what works and what not.

I deactivated Windows WMI (Windows Managment Instrumentation) *Perform Adapter* on my comp a few days back, during a review of my running processes, and had experienced a nice surprise - and that is the comp is running smoother, without some hesitations during some games and browsing.

There are many reads out there mentioning that WMI *Perform Adapter* is needed for a good running Windows environment, and I had this service previously on MANUAL and AUTOMATIC. Though it is a bit early to say if turning it off can be advantageous, the last few days has seen some improvements on my comp's performance.

Inputs? Please feel free to add and comment on other system processes and services as well.

cheers ...

To clarify further, thanks to some inputs.

The "deactivated" service in question above is WMI Perform Adapter, and NOT Windows Management Instrumentation itself. They are 2 different services. I left the Windows Management Instrumentation alone (automatic).

cheers ...
