Hi all,
I have had my m15x for about 6 months now, and I'm very pleased with it. But I recently (a few days ago) did a format, and I also upgraded my BIOS (x36). But when I open Task manager, it says my CPU is loaded 50% + ALL the time. When I'm in idle (not running any programs) it still gives 50% or more. Running a (small) program loads the CPU to 80% and even to 100%. I'm not in stealth mode, and I tried switching between... Any help please? Thanks, Philip.

Hi,
I might have some important information about my problem. I downloaded a program called CoreTemp, and it can be used to view some important information about the system. I noticed something really weird: I have 2 cores, and 1 core is always 80%-95% loaded, while the other one is always 5%-15% loaded. I don't know what this means though... Help please ![]()

you could have some spyware in the backgroud bogging down your CPU... download Adaware from download.com and run it...also you could check under your control panel to see if both Core processors are shown and that both have the driver installed for both of them...

Hi,
thx for your reply. When I open up my task manager, it gives me 2 graphs, so both cores are installed I guess. And I dont think its a virus since I just did a format... Ill try adaware anyway. Thanks. Any other ideas?

Spyware isnt a virus per se....it just boggs down your CPU by running in the background...You may not be on high performance setting... so check you battery settings and power settings to see if they are on high performance or on balance performance...I also use Notebookhardwarecontrol to control my CPU performance by setting it to high performance using that program...it keeps both processors running at max instead of cycling off and on...

hm my power scheme is set to high performance, and adaware did not find a thing.
About notebookhardwarecontrol, thats not really a solution, but a mask to the problem... I'd like my CPU to be around 5% in idle, like it should be... =(

you will have to look at the Task manager and see what is taking up the CPU... it will show it as a number labeled under CPU... if its not needed then you can end task it and it should bring down your CPU load...

that DSVC.exe is taking up 50% of your processor...also you have alot of stuff running in the background that is not needed like wmplayer.exe etc....i would try and see if you can end task the DSVC.exe...

I thought so too. (it's cisvc.exe)
I googled it and found: "cisvc.exe is a process that belongs to the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It is used to monitor the memory usage in CIDAEMON.exe and prevent low memory problems. This is an essential system process and should not be removed." So it's needed by windows... Do you have a process like that?

All the support was nice, but not gunna help him, his install is fubar to have that process killing him, coulda been a bad OS install or a driver that f'd something up, but as was pointed out what ever caused it, that one process is doing ALL the damage!!!, google is ur friend, find out what causes that file to goy haywire and fix from there, or reformat reinstall from scratch, reboot after every driver/app install and see what triggers that process to bork.

I just proposed these options before telling him to do a refresh install that deleted the partition on the harddrive...sometimes a simple fix works instead of doing a complete install...
