Hello,
Well sir, I need help, an Acer Aspire 5570z was gifted to me by my father and I own it since 1.5 Year and it works cool, the notebook came with 512MB RAM and I updated it to 512x2 a year back and every thing worked cool, but now , I finally decided to buy a 2 GB RAM, I bought a 2 GB DDR RAM and inserted in my laptop , the laptop works good but problem is that now when I go to CMOS setup, it shows up as Extended memory to 2048MB but I own Windows Vista Ultimate (French) 32BITS ; but my Windows only shows up as I have only 1.00GB of memory! Please help, why my memory RAM is not being showed in Windows?? Please help, Thanks, Faisal! |

SP1 allows Windows (Vista) to see the full supported RAM number, but taking advantage of the whole thing is another story.
I recommend going for the Service Pack as soon as you can. It contains other improvements as well. cheers ...

sp1 will show the total amount of memory where non sp1 will show available memory.
one more thing...Are you running 2 sticks of 1GB memory, or just 1 stick of 2GB memory?

You know I am using that Vista gadjet which shows up the CPU and RAM usage, so when before I had 1 GB and I used to start my Vista it used to show that 50% RAM usage with standard start up without launching any extra software! NOW as I installed SP1 and I can see RAM as 2.0 GB but now also when I start Windows it shows up as 50% of RAM used (without launching any other software), I have not installed any thing at all, Can you help me on this??? FAISAL! |

That is normal. Vista would grab any available memory and manages it. The more ram you have, the more Vista will take advantage of it and manages system processes better. And when other apps need the ram, Vista will release it to them efficiently.
You will definitively notice better performances than before you added the ram. cheers ...

i second that. with 4GB it still eats up quite a bit. however, performance is nice and speedy.
