Inverter or Backlight

Hi Every one,
I have a laptop which has a dim screen, I am not sure if its the
inverter or the back light that needs to be replaced. Its a Sony
FS-740/w series laptop. I want to be sure which one needs to be
replaced so that i can order it online. Can any one suggest a way to
check if the inverter is working correctly.
Thanks in advance.
Regards

Did you first try and hit the function key (Fn) and raising the brightness (either F6 or F7) ?

No easy diag without some known good parts (i.e. an inverter or LCD)...check the inverter for any physical damage, burn marks and such...that'll help make the diag easier...

cheers

Bulbs do fail so it is hard to say which part is bad without testing it out. It could very well be a simple inverter or the actual bulb needs to be replaced.

Either way it is repairable
