Professor Wanting to Switch from or Away
I have been using the most powerful, cleanest, fastest, MBP my Department would pay for the past 6 years. I think it is time to switch. I can try and deal with the viruses and the other stuff that sneaks into the notebook but I am here for some suggestions. You probably have a form and I did not see it but I will lay out exactly what either I or the Department wants me to have; 1. The cleaner burning notebook the better. meaning, the less games, preinstalled programs, malware, whatever they add in notebooks these days that took a friend 25 minutes from the time he turned his machine on to the time he was actually able to get past all the adds, pop-ups, free this, trial & this one..it was amazing. But I am hoping I can get a super solid notebook that can take a beating (I do online courses too and travel a lot). Really this first requirement was the main reason why the MacBook Pro was a requirement. They have this area of the notebook scheme nearly perfected. Now not to say there are not a lot of negative things but as far as no crap to keep you from doing what you needed to do was never an obstacle for me. The HD needs to be 250-300, at least 4, but hopefully 6, 2gn sticks RAM. Not sure of the speed of /RAM these days but it needs to be near the tops or getting the 6, 2 gb sticks will not make sense to my boss. No loaded programs, except I do need the latest Office. Any body know when it cam out? The best antivirus system (set-up) suggestions, at least 4 usb ports, not used but brand new, mini camcorder for the online stuff, easy mic port with decent reception for a notebook or the ability to take a mic, I do need the best graphics, not sure if you all like what Apple puts in their new MBP 17" unibody, but something like that, but prefer it draw from its own power source (ram), good screen, size 14-17, I have never had the anti glare so I am not sure what to say there, would like to be able to have Leopard OS and Vista (if this is what most pros are using now) be open at the same time. Something you would be so proud to bring home to your mom and dad and say, hey mom and pa, I think we will be real rich because I have put together this cleanest, carbon body for the workhorse, good warranty with a warranty that will take care the spilled coffee or maybe even the cracked LCD display). CD/DVD R+RW and RW and RW, the DVD that can be kept and locked. Nice DVD player but not the best. As far as the speed of the processor--why did I wait until the end because I think if it is a sweet machine, my boss will take a 7200 I really appreciate any comments, suggestions. I know I do not have to ask for the negative ones cause they seem to come my way no matter what. hehe Take Care |

If you want to work on Leopard (OS X) and Windows at the same time, your choice is pretty much limited to an Apple machine. No but and or - legally!
cheers ...
