The specs are certainly good. I haven't heard anything particularly negative about MSI as a brand either, so I'd say go for it!

Cool thanks for the info. I was just double checking cause i heard that the keyboard was flimsy and some other issues might exist there. I was considering Asus, Sagar, and even Alienware laptops before lol, but this laptop im getting is just $1,100!

Mind you, I'm not saying that it will be perfect. If you expect a notebook to not have any problems, you're going to be disappointed. It may very well have the issues you mentioned. I'm just saying that it sounds like a good deal and the company in general is reputable.

Then I'd bring in the other brands you mentioned. Asus, Sager, and Alienware all have good options in that range, specifically the Asus G50Vt, Sager NP8662, and Alienware M15x.

I agree here. Besides the fact that I've became an Asus fan since I've got mine, I also was undecided about the G50VT, the SagerNP8662(Clevo) and the MSI.
The first I've rulled out was the MSI because it was almost consense that it has poor keyboard and the finishing looks not that good.
Then I came into Asus and Sager, and this was much more a personal choice. The Sager is fantastic also, both have options to customize from autorized retailers, and also the Asus now thas the Intel X9100, but the Sager has the new Nvidia graphics GPU...
And more, I've heard about issues with the keyboard and bios update failures on the Asus and display problems on the Sager. But this problems were always pointed buy the users that have done extreme overclocking on their notes, also installing non official drivers... so...

If I were you, I'd go for the ASUS G50vt instead. Checking the specs out here: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus...tag=mncol;psum

It seems better with more RAM with it. Also, having a 2 year warranty helps a lot with laptops. Am going to be very honest with you though. The warranty is only as good as the people providing the service (referring to ASUS)... and the quality of service depends on the location as well.

Hope this helps!

Yep, and NBF review here

But MSI does make good gaming machines, and they are well established in Europe.

cheers ...
