Compaq Evo n620c: LCD screen problem

I initially thought that I was experiencing the typical flickering-to-a-faint-screen shot inverter issue, but 3 inverters later and also 2 LCD replacement panels later (managed to come around multiple panels and inverters known to be working), the flickering-to-no-backlight problem persists. No matter which combination of panel/inverter I connect to the unit, the inverters are buzzing. (Hooking the unit to an external monitor works perfectly still at least.)

Since the LCD has to draw current from the motherboard, is it possible that the motherboard has some kind of problem sending current to the screen or something that's causing all the malfunctioning or even killing all the inverters I had?

This is not your model, but can be used as a good reference regarding screen flickering

So far, all that did was minimize the flickering so now it just goes from normal to dead backlight without warning. I've again tried this with 3 different inverters and 2 LCD panels because I physically can't replace the backlight since the panel is glued.

The only other thing I can think of is the cable itself, the one that connects the board to the LCD. And see if there is any flex on the board, when you have your LCD out and open?closing it.

Not sure about the cables because each LCD panel I have has its own LCD cable (basically, the only thing replaceable in the panel is the inverter, which I have 3 of, because the panel is glued together and impossible to take apart). But I'll see what I can do first.

Look at the top picture on this link, this is what I meant by LCD cable;

If that is the cable that attaches to the inverter, then unfortunately for me, those were the cables I was talking about. They can be found as parts on eBay, but the LCD panels of the Evo n600 series are glued together, so the cables are basically irreplaceable. I have 2 of them (one affixed to each panel).

If that's some other cable inside the LCD panel, then I'm still sunk for the same reason (can't disassemble the LCD panel) and need to get yet another LCD panel.

That is true that many LCDs are glued to the back panel, but you should be able to pry them apart. Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose (and take some pics to share )

It just occurred to me that I should have mentioned that on startup, there is an obvious red tint on the screen which goes away after a few minutes. According to what I found, that would most likely be the backlight dying. The suckiest part about this is that now I have 2 screens with shot backlights (I actually bought the second one on eBay brushing off the part in the description that said the screen starts with a red tint but then goes away).

They do offer backlight replacements, if you are game about playing with them. Some on eBay (your fav ) also come with instruction as how to go about replacing them. I think.
