HP Pavilion dv8229ea RAM upgrade

Hey,

I own HP Pavilion DV8229ea http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=1844648

currently I have 1024 MB DDR2 533 MHz (2 x 512 MB) and I want to upgrade the RAM to 2Gb.

I want to remove the current slots that are installed and I will buy and install 2 new slots, each one is Kingston 1GB 667Mhz DDRII (2Gb in total).

My question is:
Will it work on 667Mhz or will it be downgraded to 533Mhz?
Or maybe it will not work at all

On HP website it's not written that the mainboard supports 667Mhz FSB.

I would recommend staying with stock (533Mhz) ram unless you want to try out the higher modules just for fun.

cheers ...

The only available model of the RAM in the local computers store is Kingston 1GB 667Mhz DDRII
So I don't have a choice to choose 533Mhz version

Can they special order for you? If not, can you extract a confirmation that if the modules don't work right you can return them? Best bet is probably taking your notebook to the store and try them out on the spot.

How about buying online?

cheers ...
