Claptop is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
Buying a new custom built laptop, would like some advice..

Just wondering if you could pass on any advise concerning whether this is a wise choice in the spec I've chosen? I mean, I know generally what I'm getting in comparison to other laptops etc, but concerned that when I recieve the laptop, I'll be restricted by buying alot of RAM but not being able to use it, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, heres the spec:

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile P8700 (2.53GHz) 1066MHz FSB/3MB L2 Cache
Memory (RAM)
4GB CORSAIR DDR3 1066MHz SODIMM - LIFETIME WARRANTY!
Operating System
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium 64-bit + Windows 7 Upgrade Voucher (£88)
Bluetooth & Infrared Options
NONE
Memory - Hard Disk
160GB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm)
CD/DVD Drive
8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)
Graphics Card
512MB DDR3 ATi RADEON HD 4650 + HDMI & VGA
2nd Graphics Card
NONE
Network Facilities
ONBOARD GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS 802.11G NETWORK CARD (£6)
Stand-Alone Monitor
NONE
Keyboard & Mouse
NONE
Speakers
NONE
Webcam
INTEGRATED 2.0 MEGAPIXEL WEBCAM
Headsets (VOIP)
NONE
Surge Protection
NONE
Printer
NONE
Anti-Virus
NONE
Office Software
NONE
Stands & Port Replicators
NONE
Battery
6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (4,800 mAh) - up to 3 Hours Battery Life
Power Lead & Adaptor
1 x UK Power Lead & 90W AC Adaptor
Carry Case
NONE
External Hard Drive
NONE

Note: This was Copy and pasted direct, in the standard laptop model it comes with a 4650 HD ATI Radeon gfx card.

Just for background info, I ruined my old laptop and was previously dissapointed with the graphics, and what games it could handle. So I thought I'd choose a laptop w/ a strong card, capale of handling most top end games backed up with DDR3 RAM and a decent processor. Not entirely sure if it is a wise decision to just pick what I like and hope it works, so would like to hear from some experts!

Cheers

Strong specs machine. What is the screen size?

And 88quids for the W7 upgrade voucher? Shop around some more for a 49quids offer.

cheers ...

What is your barebone of choice and the assembler. It is more important that the specs.

I am very sceptical about "custom built notebooks" in general, especially for noobs. Disappointments and waste of money are very likely.
